California Lemon Law and Your Vehicle

A vehicle is normally a consumer’s largest purchase, other than a house/condo. It is frustrating, to say the least, to buy a new vehicle under warranty and find out later that it is a lemon. The California Lemon Law covers all goods sold in California with a warranty. Goods include such things as computers, refrigerators, spas, golf clubs, vehicles, boats, RVs, and bikes. The Lemon Law normally comes into play when dealing with a large and expensive item, such as a vehicle, boat, RV, or motorcycle.

If you have a lemon, the California Lemon Law provides that you can get a replacement or a buyback if it cannot be repaired after a reasonable number of repair attempts. A buyback is essentially a refund of all the money you have paid toward the vehicle, including license fees, tow fees, interest on your loan, rental car fees, and other out of pocket costs.

Do I Need An Attorney to get a Lemon Law Buyback or Replacement?

Pursuant to the California Lemon Law, the manufacturer and the selling dealer are obligated to buy back your lemon vehicle or replace it without you having to file a lawsuit. If the dealer and/or manufacturer won't voluntarily buy back or replace your vehicle, you should find an experienced lemon law attorney to force them to do so.
